FAQs

1.  What is AT&T Summit?

AT&T Summit is a year-long recognition program that motivates our top performers and recognizes and rewards them for being among the “Best of the Best.”

2.  What is the policy on bringing guests to the event?

Winners will be allowed to escort one guest, age 21 or older, to the AT&T Summit trip. A spouse, significant other, family member, or friend may accompany the Summit winner. Winners are expected to share their room with their guests. Children, additional family members or friends of winners may attend at the winner’s own expense, but will be restricted from attending all Summit functions.

Winners are allowed to bring an AT&T employee as their guest if the employee is NOT the supervisor and/or manager of the winner.  Additionally, the employee guest must take vacation time to attend and must receive permission to do so.

3.  What if I am selected as a winner but cannot attend the trip?

You will still be a Summit winner and receive the award and all other gift items. However, you will not receive any monetary compensation in lieu of the trip.

4.  How are PTO/Over Time/Time sheets/Leave of Absence and Travel time handled for Summit?

Summit is a voluntary event. Winners must be active, full-time employees and at work at least two weeks prior to the trip to be eligible to attend. Employees on leave, short term disability benefits or any unexcused absence period are ineligible. Work time and Travel time paid for Summit Non-Management winners will be communicated to the winners by each Center Manager.

5.  Are baggage expenses and airport parking covered when traveling to and from a Summit trip?

Per AT&T policy, Summit winners will be able to expense one piece of checked luggage for the winner and one for the guest for each leg of the trip. Fees for additional checked luggage are at your own expense. Any charges incurred for luggage over the weight limit of 50 lbs. per checked bag are at your own expense.  Airport parking or transportation to/from the departure airport is covered.  Expenses are to be reimbursed after the trip through your normal expense reimbursement process.

6. Is mileage and valet or self-parking covered at the Summit event if I decide to drive?

Summit winners that live within driving distance of the Summit destination will be reimbursed for mileage based on AT&T mileage guidelines and rates in effect at the time of the trip.  Mileage reimbursement will be made through the Summit program prior to the trip. Valet and self-parking at the destination will be covered by the Summit program for those who drive to the event.

7.  Will the Summit program cover fees if I make changes to my airline travel or my guest’s travel after my

itinerary has been approved and tickets purchased?

No.  The Summit program covers air travel expenses for one ticket for the winner and one ticket for a guest. If changes are made to air travel after tickets are purchased for either the winner or guest, you are personally responsible for the travel agency change fee, the airline change fee and the cost of the new ticket, if applicable, as charged by the airlines.

8.  What about personal expenses such as lunch, magazines, etc. traveling to and from the  Summit event?

Personal expenses traveling to and from the Summit trip are the responsibility of the winner and their guest. Once winners arrive at the Summit destination, expenses are covered by the Summit program. Personal items and purchases are the responsibility of the winner and guest. Items considered “incidental” purchases by the hotel are the responsibility of the winner and guest. A credit card will be required to be imprinted at check-in to cover incidental charges.

9.  What are the tax responsibilities for attending the Summit trip?

The AT&T Summit trip meets the minimum requirements for a company business meeting. Therefore, the value of the trip is not taxable to the winner. However, the value of the trip for the guest and the gifts for the winner are taxable to the winner.  AT&T will gross up the winner's paycheck to offset these additional withholdings.
